Race

Personally, I define race as the different tribes of the earth. In my definition, race has a strong affiliation with color. In terms of color, there are a couple of different races such as Blacks, Whites, Asians (who are more or less yellow), Native Americans (red), and the various hybrids associated with the intermingling of these races. Race was defined in the movie "Race the Power of an Illusion" somewhat differentky. In the film it was defined as explicit distinctions between groups of people (such as those that were previously mentioned) that are not so immutable. It acknowledges the fact that there are differences between such people, but alludes to the fact that there are basic similarities between all people that render them essentially human.

A biological view of race contends that there are certain innate biological differences that accounts for race. There is also an inherent prejudice associated with biological views of race, which imply that the biological assertions of certain races (such as Caucasians) are some how explicably better than that of other races. However, a social view of race adheres to the fact that certain distinctions between race simply pertains to social factors, such as where people live and how they do so.

Other than race, there are several other things that explain why some people are more susceptible to diseases than others are, such as social conditions.
For instance, those who live in areas of filth and poverty are certain to contact more diseases related to squalor than those that do not.

Ancestry is different from race predominantly in the fact that the former pertains to someone's specific family history. That history may pertain to factors such as race, but it also might pertain to factors such as the social conditions in which immediate relatives lived. These terms are by no means synonymous.

There are a number of different ways that race has been utilized to emphasize various aspects of inequality. One of the most salient of these pertains to the notion of phrenology, a philosophy/pseudo science that was immensely popular at the turn of the 19th cenutry. Additionally, there have been certain aspects of education and testing in which there are biases against certain socio-economic ethnic groups that has been used to emphasize inequality.

Beliefs about race played a huge role in the colonization of areas such as Cuba, the Mexico territory, The Philippines, Guam and Puerto Rico. In all of these areas there were people who were not native Caucasians. As such, there was a degree of….....
