He spent approximately two decades continuing his work in the domain, even with the fact that he did not earn a lot out of the enterprise. He published several illustrated books, such as the "Encyclopedia of Tibetan Symbols and Motifs" and the "Handbook of Tibetan Buddhist Symbols." These two have had a heavy influence on Newar art and on Buddhist art as a whole, as he observed that even though his practice was relatively ignored in the UK, people in India and Nepal were particularly fond of his art. He collaborated greatly with artists in Asia from there on and the fact that he spent most of his time in the UK did not stop him from keeping Buddhist art forms alive in the West.

One of the most interesting facts regarding Beer is that he does not necessarily see his involvement in the world of art as an opportunity to follow an academic career, as he considers it to be essential in his upbringing as an artist.
From his point-of-view, his involvement in Buddhist art is a result of his spiritual experiences and of his life in general from the first time when he felt a connection with the supernatural. The loss of his daughter in 2006 made him realize that Buddhism and his experience in Buddhist practices could not prepare him for such events. He acknowledged that even though Tibetan tradition it filled with in matters related to death or to dying, it cannot possibly assist one in his or her endeavor to go through an experience involving strong suffering.
