However, this only fanned the enthusiasm of Dali's fans who published a richly illustrated feature in the April 7, 1941 issue of Life. It declared that Dali's lack of dignity, his instant appreciation of the sensibilities of the press, are indication of the timeliness of his mind, but go deeper than that." In his autobiography, "The Secret Life of Salvador Dali," published in 1942, he wrote that he withdrew from modern art styles and devoted himself to reasserting the classical traditions of Renaissance and Baroque art. He stressed that this decision was an apolitical one, although it clearly favored the old master values. These values signified his alignment with totalitarian regimes, which eventually made him an outcast (Stuckey).#

Salvador Dali was born in Figueras in Northern Spain and raised according to his passion for art. From the age of 10, he showed extraordinary talent in the field, which his father, a prominent notary, consistently supported until his one-man show in Barcelona in 1925.

His best years were between 1929 and 1939. He went to Paris in 1929 and was allowed to join the Surrealist Movement. He met and fell in love with Gala Eluard in the same year. Surrealism and Dadaism are art and writing styles, introduced in the 20th century, which deal with subconscious imagery.
Dali soon became a master in surrealist art. At this time, Dali introduced his paranoiac-critical method, which perceives the universe according to the interpretation of dreams and delirious processes.

Dali's public display of arrogance against his mother and his relationship with Gala broke his relationship with his family. His best-known masterpieces were produced in this 10-year span. They include "First Days of Spring," "The Enigma of Desire: My Mother," "William Tell," "Spectre of Sex Appeal,." "The Metamorphosis of Narcissus," "Apparition of a Face and Fruit Dish on a Beach" and "Persistence of Memory." Among his imageries were soft watches, boundless perspectives, elongated staff, exaggerated human limbs and giraffes burning, suggestive of the unconscious.

In 1934, he was expelled by the Surrealist Movement for his fascination with Hitler. He escaped into Figueroa where he continued to create Surrealist works. His collections earned him much money and fame. Out of this, he built his Teatro Museo, where his works are displayed. In 1982, Gala died and his own health began to fail. Dali's works high standards for art but his disgraceful behavior took away much of the recognition, which his masterpieces could have merited......
