Ethical Dilemmas among Early Childhood Educators

Early childhood education is a very crucial stage in the schooling stages of a child. At school, children are inculcated in the schools system and their attitude and perspective about learning changes. From the pivotal role it will play in the schooling life of a child, the tutors have to ensure that they provide all the necessary attention and materials for these early learners. The other peculiar thing about the learners at this age is that their parents are always concerned about their welfare. Ideally, they play an active role in their learning process. In this pursuit, their interventions can at times conflict with those of the teachers who have been employed to raise these children in school (Anning, 2014). This following study focuses on the issue of teacher-parent conflict in relation to the story portrayed in the case study.

Parents as the major interested parties in the lives of the children have a convincing authority over the children. They are the actual beneficiaries of anything good that can come out of the schooling children. However, children are at the hands of the teachers while at school. The law empowers teachers with the responsibility of catering for the children's needs and catering for their welfare (Gordon, 2011).

The school policy should state that once the children are admitted to the school, they are at the hands of the school administration. This will prevent the teacher-parent conflicts like the one involving Stacy and Shaun's mother. Stacy should ask for a meeting with the school principal and Shaun's mother in order to arrive at an amicable decision.
