Men therefore learn through the process of information filtering rather than rote memorization. This has important implications on how men tend to optimally learn, which is to be provided with an excess of information and to dissociate central principles and theorems from "distracting" and noncongruent information. The above discussion shows that there is strong evidence to suggest that gender plays a crucial part in how we learn. In general, women tend to be the much more passive learner, using techniques that focus on understanding details and cognitively appreciate the complexity and nuances of what they are taught. Men on the other hand reinforce learning through an aggressive style in which they wish to "dominate" what they learn and in effect reinforce their learning through analysis and dissection.
