Perhaps this will change the types of working arrangements women have with employers such as more job sharing, part-time employment, and telecommuting. and, older women could experience higher stress levels that younger working mothers.

Last, but certainly not least, is that, on average, a full-time, full-year woman worker brings home 77 cents on the dollar, compared to her male colleagues (Shriver, M. & the Center for American Progress). Pay differences should improve as women take on jobs in traditionally male-dominated industries and assume new job roles which account 49.5% of the differential; still, 41.1% of this shortfall cannot be explained by characteristics of women or their jobs (Shriver, M.
& the Center for American Progress). As more women enter the workforce, the demands for equal pay for equal work are likely to escalate and employers will need to find ways to institute more equal pay practices over the next five years.

In summary, more women are now heads of household and sole supporters of their families; mothers are delaying having children; and pay differentials still persist. These trends indicate change ahead with expected strains on marriages, reshaping of jobs for the working mother, greater stress challenges for older mothers than their younger counterparts and demand for equal pay......
