I have gone through many of the same situations that they are currently experiencing, and this makes it easier to apply my own experiences to helping these clients in particular. I have been married for 22 years, and successfully raised a child, but I have also recovered from separation. These life experiences have taught me the pathways to success, and it is these pathways I want to teach others.

I have assisted young couples in the past and so I understand the issues that younger couples face. They have tremendous financial pressures, and there are unique challenges for couples with children. I understand both of these things, having experienced both myself. So for me, this target market is the one that best fits my skills as a life coach and my personal experiences as someone who has faced many of the same issues that these couples are facing today.

I want only to target couples, however, who can afford my services. Obviously, there are a lot of couples who are having problems with money and child-rearing, but it is important that they be financially-qualified, so I only want to target those earning over $100,000 per year combined.

This will help to refine my marketing efforts, because while the base issues are for the most part universal, my target customer tends towards specific geographies and behaviors. There are several neighborhoods in which they live, specific media that they consume and specific lifestyles that they live, all of which can help me to refine my targeting further. For example, a posting on the board at the right daycare or community center could be quite fruitful at basically no cost. Knowing what social media they consume can help determine other avenues for promotion. The more I know the audience, the better triggers I can use to pique interest as well. So having a fairly-defined demographic and psychographic target will help me to further refine based on geography and consumption behavior......
