Grade Level in Texas

The Physical Education (PE) curriculum guide for Texas provides different knowledge and skills for every grade level K-8. The objective for kindergarten level is the learning basic body control while moving across different settings (Texas Education Agency, n.d.). For grade 1, the objective is the objective is to continue enhancing basic body control while developing essential movement skills and fitness components that relate to health. The objective for grade 2 is to demonstrate vital components of essential movement skills and become more effective in locomotive skills. For grade 3, the objective is to show maturity in more essential movement patterns while for grade 4 it is to learn to detect the elements of health-related fitness and sources of information for health fitness. For grade 5, the objective is to demonstrate competence like enhanced accuracy in calculating skills in dynamic situations and grade 6's objective is to demonstrate more understanding of the function of the body, evaluate personal performance, and create plans for improvement. In grade 7, students are required to apply similar concepts from one physical activity or sport to another while the objective for grade 8 is to ensure increased participation in physical fitness activities in every setting including home and school.


HS Course, Foundations of Personal Fitness and Howard Payne University's KIN 1100 have some similarities and differences. One of the similarities between the two is that they focus on encouraging students towards a lifetime commitment to personal fitness through applying health-related aspects of physical fitness. Secondly, they both focus on teaching students about personal fitness process so that they can achieve the optimal levels of health. However, the two differ in terms of methodology utilized to achieve these goals since HPU's KIN 1100 utilize a Christ-centered approach for health, fitness and wellness while the Foundations of Personal Fitness is relatively a general approach towards personal fitness.

Policy development in a sporting or recreational institution is a process that focuses on guiding the activities of the relevant individuals in relation to fitness and wellness. In most cases, sports or wellness policies are usually included in a central statement that helps in governing the actions of the people involved.
