Scheduling a project concurrently can be problematic because many potential problems might arise with a critical component of the foundation. For example, issues with the frame of the house that are not immediately apparent until construction is well under way may arise. If constructions on other areas of the house that are dependent upon the frame have been taking place, these might need to be undone to ensure that the problems with the frame are taken care of. Thus, the result may be additional expenses and delays rather than meaningful savings.

Scheduling is indeed necessary to ensure that projects do not go over time or over budget. However, I would disagree that scheduling is always sequential in nature. Many times, projects contain overlapping elements. Various aspects of the project may need to be completed concurrently. Regardless, there are always contingent elements that are necessary to be completed for a project to move from Point A to Point B. Before a project is embarked upon it can be helpful to identify critical areas that must be attended to in a timely fashion to prevent extended delays. Without a schedule and an overall map of the project, potential problem areas cannot be identified.

2. Develop reporting procedures for employees to identify risks: Reporting procedures can include soliciting customer feedback and briefing employees on how to spot problems and providing a forum to identify them (anonymously, if necessary). Release forms may be necessary for customers as well as briefing customers of risks that can occur with any procedures

3. Quality inspections of equipment and appropriate layout to minimize hazards (such as proper storage at the required temperature of any materials) can also mitigate risk.

4. Risks which can occur even without mitigation efforts include natural disasters, unavoidable transmission of communicable illnesses, and economic losses due to outside economic factors that impact demand

III. Mitigation procedures: Team activities

A. Personnel training: Awareness is critical; personnel must be inculcated into the 'risk mitigation' mentality
