However, there are some glaring opinions that seem extremely out-of-date today. The author continues, "Woman cannot compete with man in a long course of mental labor. The female mind is rather quiet and timid than fiery and driving" (Fulton 12). Many women would find that statement offensive today, and it might turn them against the rest of the more positive messages this book contains.

This book is interesting to read, because it represents a time more than 100 years ago when men and women lived very different lives than they do today. The book is from a Christian perspective and relates every aspect of life to the Bible and spirituality. While it may seem old-fashioned and outdated to many readers, it makes some extremely interesting ideas about relationships between men and women, and it is still very relevant today on many levels. Many people would like to live a simpler, more traditionally religious life, and this book supports them in their efforts.
It shows men and women how to live together, love each other, and raise families, and people could still get a lot out of reading this book and applying its principles. For example, the author writes, "In considering Woman's Work and Woman's Mission, we discover that they go hand in hand, and faith is the bond which unites them. Separate woman's work from her mission, and you divorce it from that which makes it honorable and praiseworthy" (Fulton 41). It is hard to argue with ideas like these, even in a world that is modern and hectic, and that is what makes this book an overall success.

I actually liked this book more as I continued reading it. At first, I thought it was out-of-date and just old, but when I read some of the things the author fully believed in, they made sense, and I would use them to help me develop my own relationship with a future husband......
